From an early age, in solitude,

I taught myself tarot, astrology, the patterns and secrets of myths and beliefs. 

I wrote poetry and songs and let it all blend together.

I channeled images wild and lovely. I was obsessive and unearthed.

I indulged my pain. I found meaning in dreams.

I learned the language of shape, space, and symbols.

I knew meaning. 

I had purpose and will.

I believed in magic and mission and the sacred.

I was alone and aching but driven by invisible hands, pushing me forward anyways.

I got lost

I cracked open

I obeyed my calling.

I found help through friends, through dancing, through self questioning, and foolishly trusting actions, knowing moving by any means paves a pathway.

I learned balance. I learned to speak again. I learned that thoughts should bow to feelings.

I learned that softness opens, that pain desires love. That the past still lives in the soft tissues and  nerves, but it's not a place to live.

I learned release, and surrender and a new story.

I have carried wounds that have healed

I have gathered medicine from poison

With a heart that has scraped through darkness

it now opens like night blooming jasmine

ready and patient

to spoon love like honey

to kiss like dew

Angela Salmon is a Montana native, turned Chicago artist and healer.

She channels her experience as a multimedia artist, psycho-pomp, and expert in symbols and interpretation to see deeply into the mental, emotional, and spiritual experiences of others, to process and integrate into the physical.

She has trained in Shamanic energy medicine through The Four Winds Society in Joshua Tree California, studies breath work techniques, and focuses on shadow work, emotional processing, and deep internal reflection and restructuring for holistic healing.
